How to Find a Product to Sell and Check It Is Worth It

A step-by-step way to choose a product, test demand and confirm the profit before you commit.
Start with what you know
Your skills, hobbies and the problems you notice are good starting points. You will explain a product better when you understand the people who buy it.
Look for signs of demand
Check what people search for, what sells on marketplaces and what people ask for in groups and forums. Steady interest matters more than a one-week trend.
Check the competition
Some competition is a good sign that people buy. Ask what you could do differently: a better design, a clearer niche, faster shipping or better service.
Do the profit math
Subtract the product cost, shipping, payment fees and the cost of finding a customer from your price. If little is left, change the price or the product. The calculator on our home page does this for you.
Test small
Sell a few units to friends, a local group or your social followers before ordering a large batch.
Know your sourcing options
Making it yourself gives you control. Print on demand avoids stock but margins are thinner. Wholesale or dropshipping can work, but check shipping times, quality and returns first.
